In the Mid and Late 1980s “The Fashion Thing” was to “tight roll” your Girbaud or Cavarrici pant/jean bottoms. So, the big complaint about wearing tuxedo pants were that the pant bottoms were too wide. Thus the Invention of “The Backstage Clip” when positioned correctly would take a wide tuxedo pant bottom to a more desirable skinny fit. The Original Skinny Bottoms 🙂
